Aspen West Paint Horses

wrchloe1_small1 Welcome to our virtual home on the worldwide web. So glad you stopped by for a visit. We are lifelong horse people who have been lucky to be able to fulfil our dreams of breeding, raising and showing horses. Started out with Quarter Horses but my love of being different led me to the Paint Horse and the myriad of patterns and colors that make them so attractive.

In 1974 we moved from Ontario to Alberta and began to live my dream of raising horses on a larger scale. At one point we had over 40 head of horses which even I had to admit was overload. So we scaled back and I hit the show ring in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest. Over the years we have raised many futurity and point earners and owned some fabulous broodmares and stallions. Showing gave me the opportunity to meet so many super people over the years, many are now good friends.

Now in 2010 we have reduced the horse addiction to 12 mares which include Quarter Horses, Paints and Thoroughbreds and Deceived, our double homozygous Black Tobiano Stallion who is siring lovely foals with great minds, athletic ability and loads of color. The plan is to further reduce the mares to only four head and sell their foals as weanlings each fall.

Bruce's addiction to the road has brought him full circle and he's once again hauling horses all over North America. His first job was hauling mostly TBs in Ontario all over North America to the various breeding farms and race tracks. We offer customized horse transport for people who care more how their horse is hauled than just the price.

I would love for you to check out our webpages to see our mares, foals and stallion and of course the all important FOR SALE Page. A new feature for me is our blog which allows me to ramble outloud my thoughts on what's happening here and other places -- and would love for you to participate with your comments as well.

HANK, our greyhound x wolfhound.

Sitting here wondering if the winter from hell is ever going to end, I thought it was a good time to update our online home with all of news and expectations for the coming year.

Bruce quit hauling in the winter months several years ago and decided it was time to also retire from hauling horses  all over North America. He'll still do local hauls and the odd trip across Canada he says. Now I just have to train him to be a tourist.

Our 2010 foal crop exceeded our expectations- all were pretty headed with a good mind inside that head, lots of athletic ability and found new homes before fall. Fletcher did make it to France finally to live with Jerome David.

Sold a few mares, the total number of horses spending the winter is down to 12 and two of those are leaving for their new home once the weather breaks.

bodyworksI'm in the wait mode for Far More Conclusiv to foal, she is due the end of March with a double registered foal, the rest start arriving in late April and early May. And I am so pleased that people have already inquired about the foals arriving this year.

FashionTips3Thanks for stopping by, it is appreciated. Please check out the 2011 foals page to see pictures as they arrive. Hopefully one of them will capture your eye and heart.
